Good point. They won the game when he blew a couple of days ago, right?

Still, it is pretty damn impressive not to have a blown save until August.

I'm not sure it's worth a separate thread, because it might well be a ridiculous question, but ...

At what point does Sabathia have to be seriously considered for the NL Cy Young?

When Haren, Webb, Volquez, Lincecum and Dempster go into the tank.

I'll give you Lincecum and Webb. The rest I think Sabathia matches up very well with.

    Webb: 17-4 // 2.88
    Sabathia: 7-0 // 1.55 in eight starts. 4 CG.
    Lincecum: 12-3 // 2.67
    Haren: 12-6 // 3.00
    Volquez: 14-5 // 2.86
    Dempster: 13-5 // 2.92

I think I'd slot him behind Webb, but ahead of everybody else.

    CC will finish with probably 16 starts. He's 7-0, 4 CG, 2 Sho, 1.55 ERA, .969 WHIP in 8 starts, 64 IP.
Sutcliffe won with 16-1 in 20 starts (150 IP) in '84.

CC's gonna get some serious consideration if the Brewers catch the Cubs or make the wild card.

The voting the year Sutcliffe won (other than Doc, the pickins were slim):

    1 Rick Sutcliffe TOT 24 120 120 1.00 | 16-1 150 2.69 1.08 155
    2 Dwight Gooden NYM 0 45 120 0.38 | 17-9 218 2.60 1.07 276
    3 Bruce Sutter STL 0 33 120 0.28 | 5-7 123 1.54 1.08 77 45
    4 Joaquin Andujar STL 0 12 120 0.10 | 20-14 261 3.34 1.10 147
    5 Rich Gossage SDP 0 3 120 0.02 | 10-6 102 2.90 1.08 84 25
    6 Mario Soto CIN 0 2 120 0.02 | 18-7 237 3.53 1.13 185

    Can't say that this year.

How many Cy Young votes did Randy Johnson get when he spent his half season in Houston? If memory serves, he was as dominant as they get during the second half.

Johnson made only 11 starts, 84 IP, 10-1. Finished 7th in Cy vote.

I'm assuming he was penalized for having a sub-par first half for the Ms that season, which will probably be the same thing that keeps CC from getting too much support.
