Federal air marshals subdued a man who authorities say attempted to "light his shoes on fire" on a United flight from Washington Reagan to Denver Wednesday night, federal law enforcement officials told ABC News.

Holy crap, this guy had diplomatic immunity? And great work by the marshals to say the least.

    Um, er ...

The suspect was identified by authorities as a diplomat in the Qatar embassy in Washington, Mohammed al Modadi. The FBI said the man had full diplomat immunity as the 3rd secretary and vice-consul.

Yah. A misunderstanding. Who the hell is "sarcastic" about stuff like this? It all hits too close to home but this one really does.

A guy from Qatar with diplomatic immunity who knows he can say anything and then tell them to screw off.

This has been a total crap day. Even though DIA is a bit away from here (and everything else), it still is too close for comfort.

I just pictured the South African in Lethal Weapon 2.

    "Diplomatic immunity."

    And then not.

Sounds like he's a diplomat who was caught smoking in the bathroom, tried to put the cig out on his shoe, made a joke about it ... and all hell broke lose. As it should. And hopefully authorities will find a way to get around his immunity and prosecute him as they would any other citizen who causes havoc and terror.
    Stupid smokers.

There is no "getting around" diplomatic immunity.

And I thought of Lethal Weapon II as well.
