Ah, Cowherd

Once again, someone alerted me to Colin Cowherd's ongoing identity crisis made into radio. He spent a half an hour on some bizarre Ayn Rand rant, including these comments:

"Welfare is for losers. It's something that weak people use for a crutch. A lot of people won't say it, but they think it. A lot of people who are successful financially or spiritually, just don't accept handouts."

"Guys who push the envelope get the hot chicks. Let's deal with it, the studies are out."

"Guys are more honest with their feelings than girls. Girls say one thing but really want another."

"Look at divorces and who's filing for them. Who really has infidelity issues."

"American men tend to be more aggressive. American men go get what they want. European men are slow."

"You know what? Offend everybody. People don't watch classy. They watch interesting."

"In life, folks, pick a team, take a side. Do, don't think."

"I'm not buying anything American because it's American. That's un-American."

"One out of ten people in society deserve to be treated poorly."

And somehow this all relates to:

"I don't think NBA players should be in the Olympics. I think it's a fraud."

In order, I believe we've got Ann Coulter, your standard beefcake, a rapist, the angry soul, a xenophobe, Jerry Springer, George W. Bush, a libertarian, a sadist and Jason Whitlock.

The first seven quotes are so bereft of empathy, factuality and logic...... that I understand why he appeals to most of this country.

    Collin Cowherd, American.

My radio has this little button on it which renders such ceaseless jabber moot, and mute.

Ninety-four-point-seven percent of this country works. The remainder hosts radio talk shows.

So let me get this straight...a lot of people who are successful financially aren't on welfare?

There is something a little unsettling about a discussion of Colin Cowherd appearing on the "journalism topics only" board.

There was a span when I liked listening to Colin. Right around the time of his divorce, the show moved in an unsettling direction.

It's painful to hear him now.
