    I don't know about the environment from a hole in the ground. Just know that a lot of folks got their start in the business working agate at larger papers as opposed to covering swim meets for the Podunk Press.

    considering i grew up in the dallas area, i'd say there are by far more expensive places to live. yes it is expensive as hell to live downtown but there are plenty of affordable burbs around less than a 30-minute commute away.
    can't say i'd love to work with the boys from belo these days, but i'm sure you can afford to live there on what they'd offer.
