I had this happen to me with one of my four housemates in college. Kid quit school and the ROTC and disappeared. Every day we would get ominous calls from his sergeant asking where he was because he was AWOL and that we could get in trouble if we didn't locate him.

We didn't have any idea. Of course, the dude cleaned out all his stuff one day when ALL THREE of us were gone and left us with his share of the rent.

So, like I said, hide the shit or change the lock, because he'll wait for you to leave before he comes collecting.
