I quit watching tennis matches involving the Williams sisters about 2 years ago. Yeah I missed some finals. But Ive never been a big fan of theirs, and have grown tired of their look at me attitude and their snobbishness and the kid gloves treatment they get from tennis brass.

 

One thing's obvious:

Venus got the booty, but Serena got the chest. :

Richard Williams did it right. Notice how the Williams continue playing while the others flame out from burnout (Capriati, Henin, Clijsters, Davenport,) or injury (Sharapova).

At least until last year's Open, which was inexcusable, the Williams sisters seemed to play the game with respect.

 

Dad kept them out of junior events. But I don't see how that extended their careers. They were working just as hard as other juniors back then.

What extended their careers is the limited number of tournaments they play.

Elena Dementieva, 28, has played 818 pro matches.

Serena Williams, 28, has played 563.

Same age, but Serena is about 3 "tennis years" younger.

Sisters have other interests and can afford to take time off --- and they do. They don't need the money or the ranking points. But it's nothing that Daddy did.
