After Scott Baio last night, he figured he'd seen enough...

Game of Thrones and Breaking Bad are far better TV shows than Happy Days and Laverne & Shirley (I'll leave MASH out of this). And, even if you want to quibble that Happy Days or L&S are better, why would you hope teenagers aren't reminiscing about GOT or Breaking Bad 20 years from now? They're great television shows that elevate the medium.

The Happy Days cast loved him. The younger actors really looked up to him.

He did say pre-teens too, and those shows are probably a little mature for that age group.

But there is so much media to consume today there aren't many universal experiences for this generation.

Happy Days and L&S were filmed more like plays than TV shows, with a handful of sets and live audience. So it's hard to compare them.

I thought Happy Days was edgey and grounbreaking at first (when Fonzie wore the tan windbreaker) but it eventually ... well you know.

Garry Marshall did have a great eye for talent -- Robin Williams, Michael McKean, Henry Winkler (who would have though he could pull off Fonzie?). Even Mr. and Mrs. C were perfect in their roles.

I am with you - I didn't get where TigerVols was going with that.

The forced taglines of these shows... Richie saying "I found my thrill..."
    Laverne and Shirley : Vo-dee-oh-do..

    These shows sucked.

I liked that year. Always missed Richie's older brother.

I watched Barney Miller last night. That was a great TV show.

I would let my kids watch those shows (L&S, Happy Days), no problem.

I wouldn't ever think of letting them watch that filthy modern dreck.

Fonzie was a player. Just saying.

The themes of both shows are super-violent and dark and in the case of GoT, sexual. I'd hope kids today have tamer memories of their childhoods.
