I expect that Fargo's on the list because it's fucking brilliant.

    But that's just my guess...

thanks MT. I was struggling to find the link to the page where I reviewed the list. damn, if I watch one new one a week It'll take more than a year and a half to complete the list. I'd be interested to see how many mizzougrad has seen

BTW, I tried to read all the top 100 novels of the 20th century when that list came out.

I don't think I got past 40 before I got horribly sick of the project, and I had already read 20-something to begin with.

    That's my warning...

I'm with pern. I have never understood the "brilliance" of Fargo. Comedy? No. Drama? Not quite. Pregnant sheriff with a funny accent. Yes. Brilliant? .... not hardly.

I've seen 54 of those movies.

Question: How is All the President's Men not on the list? Maybe I'm biased or something, but you can't tell me there are 100 movies better than that one.

    All 100.

When I got my Blockbuster membership, I mae a point to go through the list and added every one I hadn't seen into my queue. It took awhile, but I'm done.

I've seen many off the "inspiring" list as well.

I've only seen 24 of them.
Not that anyone gives a shit.

Because these lists always end up categorizing shit by criteria no one agrees to or competely understands, so you end up with a mix of conventional wisdom picks, truly great things, things that were culturally and/or historically significant but that actually suck and the occasional "trendy" pick to try and throw us all of the scent of the slapdash way the list was put together.

But, despite all of that, Fargo was indeed a brilliant film.

I've seen all of them except "Best Years of Our Lives"

But then I have the advantage of being around when "Birth of a Nation" came out. :)
