Addiction to texting: Annoying teenage habit, or just a teenage thing?

Discussion in 'Anything goes' started by poindexter, Nov 6, 2007.

?

Teenagers who are inseperable from their cells and texting:

  1. It's a bad habit, approaching rudeness

  2. Nothing wrong with it, you old man. It's just what kids do.

I've never issued a text message in my life. I don't see that changing.

I've never sent one either. At this point I don't know who I could text without freaking them out.

[blue]Yah, Flash, your kids will love you for it. They are all about me parenting their friends.[/blue]

I've drawn the line at the dinner table for their friends texting. I am undecided about chastising other kids on "their own time" at our house.

Poin, it's rude at the dinner table or if you're talking to them.

    Other than that, butt out.

Well, yeah ... like JR said ... at the dinner table or when you're talking to them ... but if it's when they're doing their own thing, never mind. That's just you being an old fuddy-duddy. :D

I didn't start texting until I got a new cell plan that had unlimited texting, now I do an average of 100 a month.
Like some have said, at times, it's easier to send a short text than to call.
As for driving, I've texted at a red light, no way when driving, that's crazy.
The worst behavior I've seen was last month in church.
In the pew ahead of me was a 15-year-old with an iPhone texting throughout the entire service.
Her mom (single parent) didn't even try to stop her.
    Sad.
