Story has been floating around, now hitting mainstream press. Absolute Poker had someone go on with a "super user" account which allowed the user to see the hole cards of everyone else. This enabled the user to basically steal half a million bucks from people by folding when his good cards were beat or by winning with crappy cards that no one expected to win b/c he knew he had others beat.

The user is now being named as an AP part-owner: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2007/10/18/absolute_poker_cheating_allegations/

Story is all over the blogosphere and poker forums and has hit the NYTimes blog: http://freakonomics.blogs.nytimes.com/2007/10/17/the-absolute-poker-cheating-scandal-blown-wide-open/

Will probably hit mainstream huge shortly.

Cheating in online poker? I'm shocked. Shocked.

Guess I'll have to remember to not start gambling online so I won't have to avoid going to Absolute Poker.

I love playing poker and I play a whole lot of it. But this is exactly why I never, ever started playing online.
