Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.
Screw that whole family and what they did to Knight-Ridder.

    I agree.

Something I thought I'd never write:

A win for Lean Dean ... and it's a good thing.

    I need a shower.

I liked this bit... I wonder the same thing too...

"If the lawsuit was a call to arms for the Pioneer Press -- in a meeting there on the day the lawsuit was filed union leaders wondered aloud why criminal charges weren't filed -- it was downplayed by Ridder, who generally avoided comments to the press, saying only that he and the others named in the suit would prevail."

Judging by the applause in the Strib newsroom when this was announced this morning, I'd say the PiPress isn't the only Twin Cities paper regarding this as a win.

Judge should have said, I back the Pioneer Press on this, so to penalize the Star Tribune for Ridder's unscrupulous behavior, I'm going to mandate that he continue in his job as publisher, with a contract double its current length.

That would harm the Minneapolis paper worse than shedding that slug.

The private equity rats who own the Minneapolis paper, hired Ridder, backed him with seven expensive lawyers and tried to help him beat the rap right up to the judge's ruling -- doesn't that sort of disqualify them from an enterprise that is supposed to show leadership, transparency and truth in a community? Even as Ridder was being escorted from the building this morning, they were arguing, in a company memo, that the judge was wrong, wrong, wrong! They should have cut Ridder loose five months ago to preserve some credibility. Now the douche bags get to pay Lean Dean's legal bills. Better cut more newsroom staff, pronto!

If anyone gets canned to pay for Par Ridder's legal bill, that's horrible and a huge injustice.

The PiPress story said the Strib staff was more worried abut the switch in zone coverage to five days a week at less pay for 15 staffers

This reminds me of the old Lampoon cover, "Buy this magazine or we'll shoot this dog." Management is using 15 relatively inexperienced journalists as leverage, telling the fat and happy oldsters in main office, "We bring them in at second-class wage scale or we'll dump them entirely."

Can't see the cowering rank-and-file taking a bullet for the kids. Most in that room who had guts already left in earlier buyout round. Those remaining have shown amount of crap they're willing to put up with from management to maintain paychecks. They're scared to death of next year's contract talks.
