Ray comes up with off-the-wall lines that are completely beyond the thinking of anybody else I have ever read or worked with. He has another line in a column on a national website today that references, "with the sureness of 19th century Mormonism," and if you think that's too highbrow, it's absolutely clear what he's getting at in context.

Nobody I've worked with or read in 31+plus years in the business thinks the way he does. Just fun to read pretty much every time.

Know a number of desks that would clench their backsides and not let lines like those, particularly the Mormon one, into the paper. They might claim that it's that, too highbrow, or too puzzling (context argument is lost on some folks), but mostly they'd be worried about some (19th century?) Mormon elder calling and bitching.
  4. Ray Ratto is one of the funniest and most enjoyable reads out there. Only thing funnier -- listening to Ray in person.
