    Is "scratched the dogs" a metaphor of which I am unfamiliar?

    I assume this is some posting by a reader for the net only and isn't really edited. It rambled a bit, methinks.

    It reads like a notes column with the "***"'s left out between items.
    I would have scratched the privates and taken the dogs.
