A step down?

  1. At this point, is moving from desk at a 20K daily to an writer job at a five-day community rag a step down? At my current job, with the state of things as they are, I feel like I'm in Mogadishu and there's a sniper on every rooftop waiting to pick me off.

    If they will let you sprinkle the war imagery into your prose, I say grab the writing job.

    In this business, almost nothing is a step down anymore. If you can get better job security and it's not an absurd move, you have to do what's best for you and your family.
  4. First I have to learn the usage rules for "a" and "an."
