A sports gambling theory

    Does that work better or worse than betting the greyhound that pees right before the race?

    Maybe you could get Simmons to put you up in Las Vegas for a year like he did for Bill Barnwell.

    So do you think that not being able to find anything on the internet proof that the system works or doesn't work?

    My guess is that if it does work, the other people who figured it out wouldn't be broadcasting their success.

    And if the system did work, how long do you think it would take Vegas to close the loophole or just simply ban you from gambling?

    I'm simply surprised that nobody has explored the connection.

    I think that's true with regard to professional gamblers. But there are enough Nate Silver/Bill James disciples out there that you would think someone would have explored this, as they do plenty of other saber-type predictive metrics.

    The only gambling system I've heard of that works is the guy who bets so much, he moves the line, then has someone bet against it, and pockets the difference.

    I can't remember his name but I know 60 Minutes did something on him as well as some magazine pieces floating around.

    But he also bets millions and is banned from the casinos, as best as I recall.
