    In retrospect: I realize most inmates have not considered the arbitrary nature of arabic numbers when paired with a linear ordering of those numbers.

    Using the phrases "arbitrary nature," "arabic numbers" and "linear ordering" in jail would illicit the same response as if you were talking to a small pebble, except the pebble probably wouldn't punch you for calling him an Arab.
