A sobering look at Georgia's educational budget woes

    Well, there's a difference in that those campuses didn't start with, say, double the number, then decline. The level of politics when it comes to closing city schools is enormous, especially because you have neighborhoods that, justifiably, look at the shutdown of their school as their official death sentence.

    KC appears to have no choice but to have to shut down schools because of its budget problems. Then again, you have a lot of the same politics at work in even the most suburban schools when boards talk about cutting back sports or activities because property tax revenue has tanked, and no one is building 1,000 McMansions per year in the district anymore.
