One paper is dropping AP and becoming 100 percent local. This could set a trend.

That was a pretty scathing letter that publisher wrote, though I doubt it will have any effect based on how small the paper is.

Of course, the AP could be in trouble if a whole mess of small papers start dropping them.

They can probably get away with it. How often does your paper carry an AP story with an Idaho dateline? That's not a state out there, it's an interior island.

Mine does quite a bit because I'm near Idaho, but your point still stands.

Plus, Idaho Falls isn't very far from Boise, so if something big happened the AP could get someone out there.

Why does AP require two years notice to discontinue service?

I'm guessing for budget reasons, otherwise people would willy nilly drop the service and try to pick it back up the next quarter.

Wow. Good thing you don't take yourself too seriously.

Just wondering, is this about the 2-year question, or the angry defense of Idaho requiring you to do something anatomically impossible?

Pretty sure it's my angry defense of Idaho, 21.

I thought the defense was great, like a perfect lede to a story.
    Quick and to the point.
