Reading the last few posts reminded me of this clip.

Where's Don Henley when you need him?

  5. Is it bad that I like that song? Always thought it was pretty clever.

Not only is it not bad, it shows taste and intellect. It's a brilliant song.

Henley wrote it after watching local TV news here in LA. There was a former anchor on the ABC O&O named Christine Lund who was allegedly the model for the immortal line "The bubble-headed bleach-blonde comes on at 5.... She can tell you about the plane crash with a gleam in her eye."

  7. What's funny is that song came on while repeatedly getting knocked in the shins with my daughter's purple golf ball during a putt-putt game this weekend ... been in my head ever since.

The anchor's e-mail address is shown under his name at the time of this report. I hope his inbox is flooded with angry viewer e-mails.
