A Nation’s Shaken Ego Seen in a Soccer Loss

    My favourite sports, by far, are boxing and MMA followed by other sports that involve combat.

    That said soccer is an interesting game. Americans might not get it, per say, but it's the one honest to God global sport (in fact, in most places it is THE sport), and people sometimes attach so much significance to it that it's almost unreal.

    When you get a story about the true power of sport the odds are, more often than not, it'll be soccer related.

    This is one of those.

    Side note: It's long past time we separated the idea of sports and combat.

    This is combat. "Athletes on a stage exhorted by a shrieking audience" is not combat.
