You got $50 billion? Well, here's your two loaves of bread, my good sir!

Sure, it's Zimbabwe, but have you scoped out the prices in your local grocery store lately? Cans of soup are $1.69? WTF? Weren't they, like, 49 cents when I was growing up?

I flipped out the other day over the cost of lunch meat. When did lunch meat become $7.99 for the cheap stuff??

If you don't get it at the deli counter, it's about 3 bucks a pound.

Well, yes. But I like it cut nearly thin enough to see through.

Well, sheer lunch meat does come at a premium, I guess.

Here's the thing: 1 oz of lunch meat is 2 points on WW. If you get the stuff in the containers, that's like one slice a sandwich. No thanks.

Shaved? I can pile it on there, giving it more texture.

I can understand. I buy a couple of pricier things for my diet.

Back on track: Yeah, on today's trip I got a couple of shocks. Wanted some chicken salad. $7.99 a pound. Wait. Isn't this just the chicken that didn't sell yesterday, some mayo, onions and celery? Got a 2-liter of Sierra Mist for 99 cents, but Faygo is $1.39? What? Isn't that supposed to be the inexpensive alternative?

Mom used to buy Corn Flakes because they were one of the cheapest cereals available ... $1.99 a box.

    Same box, 30 years later ... $8.99.
