If they whack Coker right now, what do they do the rest of the season? Butch could take over immediately, I suppose, but that rules out hiring anybody currently employed with any other college or NFL team.

The only reason you'd whack a coach in early season would be either a life-threatening health situation, or a completely out-of-control off-field disaster scenario (i.e., criminal charges, drugs, etc etc.)

Just losing games ain't gonna do it. Maybe they decide they've had enough of Coker, maybe they want to bring in Schiano or Petrino (LOL) next year, but they'll do it near the end of the season, when they have OPTIONS as far as who they want to hire for the future. If the only reason they want to get rid of Coker is losing games, they'd ride him out the rest of the season, then dump him and go get somebody else.

No way in Hell Davis is coming back to Miami. He left because the Board of Regents tried to fuck him over. He ain't coming back.

Here's my guess for the next coach: Mark Richt.

He's got too big a buy-out -- something like 6 mill. Miami boosters couldn't meet that.

Wrong. U will pay whatever amount requires to get Richt (or a coach of that caliber) in there......getting a coach cheap is why they're in the bowl of shit they're in now with Coker.

No way does Joeja let Richt go.

Is Ron Zook available? He's known for turning around Florida football programs, and earning a ton of respect from boosters and local media.

Ron Zook will be lucky to find work in the MAC after what has happened at Illinois.

If he's going right now, that's news to the Miami Herald.

    http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/sports/colleges/university_of_miami/15545122.htm

''Larry Coker is the head coach of the team, and we're looking forward to the rest of the season,'' Dee said by phone Sunday night. ``It's our hope we can rise to a great level of success this year with an opportunity go win our ACC Coastal Division and perhaps play in the league championship game.''

Dee said Internet speculation that the university had called a special meeting of the Board of Trustees on Sunday was false. There was no such meeting, he said." -- Miami Herald

When was the last time a college coach at a major university got fired three games into the season? It's not going to happen.

of course it's not. it makes no sense unless, say, they lose the next three in a row or something. even then, it's not early season. it's midseason.

if they go 10-2 (which seems doubtful) or even 9-3, it's a whole different discussion.
