Grandma passed today in her sleep. She was 87.

I talked to my mother again today. There will be no funeral because there are too few family members, and Mom told me her uncle (Grandma's younger brother) won't be making the trip.

Was it the family which didn't want to have the funeral, or was that your grandmother's request? If the latter, fine. If the former, well ...

Mend fences if at all possible. As shockey already said, if you meet her more than halfway and she doesn't figure this out and close whatever gap might be left, then it's on her. Go out of your way to do the right thing ... this will help you move forward as best as possible.

I told my father about my mother's decision not to have a funeral. He found it hard to believe that Grandma's own brother wouldn't make the trip for a funeral (this is what my mother told me). She'll be cremated. *sigh*

I appreciate all the notes I've gotten, both here and on Facebook. I'm sure there'll be good days and bad days ahead. Thank you for helping me get through them all.
