Stephen A. Smith is a man of many talents. He was the MC of Garry Howard's 50th birthday party.

. . . none of which appeal to the broad sporting public.

Like Simmons, he can have his niche -- the NBA. But as a purported "master of all", he's
    a comic book.

Does he have any regular gigs left at ESPN?

Some SAS gems from the past....

A loss took place at the Wachovia Center last night, right in front of the wandering eyes of Chairman Ed Snider, the keen eyes of Comcast boss, Brian Roberts, and a crowd of 19,385 at the hands of a Sixers' clone.

The Sixers are still in their puberty stages, folks. Still wetting the bed, crying and cringing, wondering when they'll be able to crawl out of their proverbial crib.

The Sixers lost another game last night and, once again, it was because they resembled a donut team. One with no center, very little flavor and, unquestionably, bad for the heart and psyche ..

    Why is Smallwood sidelined?

    How was Smith treated unfairly?

Smallwood had a heart problem. He wrote about it last week. Sounded like he almost didn't make it.

Thanks. Damn, I hate to hear that. Know John from his days in Virginia.

John spent a month in an induced coma but recently was released from a Delaware hospital to begin rehabilitation
John previously had Hodgkin's disease, which causes enlargement of the lymph nodes, and returned to the hospital Sept. 24 to have two heart valves replaced.
Opening his chest exacerbated lung problems that could have resulted from previous radiation therapy. Doctors attached him to a heart-lung machine and induced the coma.
John has a Facebook account or send him an e-mail at jnsjr@aol.com.
As for SAS, the guy was owed the money. He didn't put a gun to anyone's head during negotiations.

No, indeed. On many occasions, ESPN is more than capable of knowing when to cut its losses.
