Yahoo! Contributor Network is looking for freelance sportswriters to write about professional sports teams on Yahoo! Sports, focusing on the NFL, MLB and NBA. We are looking for expert-level contributors to "own" blog-style coverage of one team.

    We want writers that:

-Are passionate and even biased when writing about their team.

-Have an intimate knowledge of the organization and their history.

-Are prolific publishers who have their finger on the pulse of topics that diehard fans want to read.

-Are excellent self-editors who are able to follow style guidelines.

-Are active on social media and strive to build their audience.

-Have a unique writing style that is clearly identifiable and engaging to readers.

-Are able to generate topics and ideas on their own.

-Have experience writing for a Web audience.

-Live in or near the area of the team they write about.

Payment is provided on a performance basis, at $1.10 per every 1,000 page views. Contributors may also quality for occasional Upfront Payment on a per-submission basis. Only the highest-quality submissions will qualify for publication on Yahoo! Sports.

You must have a Yahoo! Contributor Network account to qualify. Use the following link to sign up and create your account. Using this link will qualify you for at least one publishing opportunity:

Once you sign up, filling out your profile to reflect your expertise and background related to this topic may increase your chances of further publishing opportunities through the Yahoo! Contributor Network.

Is this a knock-knock joke? 'Cause I don't have a punch line here.

this sounds like examiner or something that was called associated content.

Yes, it was previously Associated Content, but that was two-plus years ago. I worked on the news side of YCN until the 2,000 Yahoo layoffs came in April. Good people there, and this is certainly a niche it is seeking with this in terms of finding more established contributors. There's definitely a pretty good weeding-out process.

Wow, a whole $1.10 per 1000 page views. It's insulting that they are even allowed to post that here.

At that rate, I can afford that newspaper I'd, uh, "borrow" story ideas from.

    But ... but ... at 10,000 page views, you'll hit 11 dollars!!

What a joke. A buck for 1,000 page views. Didn't know America was a third world country.
