Let me guess, no hip hop albums in the Final Four, right?

Thanks for setting this up, EStreetJoe.

And to the "alt country" point: I recall Uncle Tupelo being described as the bastard child of punk rock and old-school (read: 1960s or earlier) country music. That's not a bad description.

Yep, especially when you're covering the Minutemen and the Louvin Brothers.

A little more Dan Bern and some Robbie Fulks would be at home on that list, too.

The Starkweather's 5-song EP would fit, too.

    Tracklist:
    Town I Hate (02:59)
    Danny Taylor (04:59)
    Burn The Flag (03:15)
    Most Every Night (04:07)
One For Her One For Him (05:37)

    That's not a bad definition.
It's a little more concise than the one I use which is that alt-country is that place where rock, country, folk and bluegrass overlap.

Hank Williams wouldn't make it now in Nashville, Tennessee. [/jasonboland]

I'm a little delayed in having a chance to put together the brackets.
Hopefully I'll have them up tomorrow or Friday.

Check out Pizza Deliverance, it's loaded with great songs. "Love Like This" is one of Cooley's best tracks.

Hate I saw this thread after the deadline.

I stopped listening to "Love Like This" because it always makes me think of Cooley doing a solo album, which apparently will never happen.

    Ya never know man.

At least you got solo shows, and probably more of them with DBT on hiatus.

There is a solo Cooley live show from last year around Christmas floating around with a cover of ZZ Top's "Rough Boy" and a snippet of "Someone Like You," that is really good. I have in on my iTunes, but can't remember where I found it.
