9-year-old dies from punishment

She lied about eating a candy bar, so her mother and grandmother apparently made her run for three straight hours as punishment. She died from dehydration:

This story makes me absolutely, positively sick to my stomach.

I hate white trash.

 

If I were in charge, I'd run those two until they die.

 

The mother is allegedly bipolar with "alcoholic tendencies." Whatever that means. I think that has more to do with this tragedy than the "white trash" element.

Horrible, horrible.

Wish the newborn could run just far enough to get away from this pair.

 

Damn, a 9yr old is a terrible thing to waste; such innocence and joy.

 

Attalla, Alabama, per Wikipedia: "The per capita income for the city was $15,727."

By way of comparison, Gary, Indiana, is $14,383.

I think the U.S. average is about $40,000.

So, yeah. Probably some down-home, southern-fried white trash calling the shots here.

Sorry, just having an emotional reaction to a story like that. During my more rational times, I have utter empathy with poverty. Perhaps I am more angry about poverty's existence, and that it leads to things like this happening (potentially), than I am at these two people.

But I'm pretty damned angry at them, too.

 

Pitiful. Over candy bars.

You can only imagine what the monsters would have done to the kid if she stopped running. A person has to be very scared to run themselves to death.
