    Agreed. Unfortunately, with cable TV, websites, BLOGS! and the other many different news sources out there, news outlets are so afraid of getting "scooped" that they don't do as good a job as they should at job 1 and job 2. In their mind, it's better to get something - anything - out there first to get readers/viewers hooked and go back and revise it later if need-be than to wait until everything is lined up and risk having no one pay attention to you because someone else had it first.

    That mindset, which of course does exist, inevitably leads to more and more potential news customers deciding ALL the information they get is bullshit. You could probably put out a sizable evening paper dedicated to correcting all the crap U.S. news orgs got wrong during the morning.
    Hey, maybe that's a business plan!

    Bingo ... the rush to be first has destroyed the desire to be accurate and, in a world where Jayson Blair is a household name, our credibility has gone the way of the Dodo.
