Odd the Coasties decided to do training on the Potomac, near the Pentagon, on 9/11.

And by odd, I mean unbelievably stupid.

This, after the dust-up caused by the Air Force One low fly-by, and I wonder just who's minding the store.

We can't trust the government to make good decisions with our national defense any more. I say we contract all military and coast guard operations to Blackwater.

Maybe it was in preparation for Glenn Beck's nutjob brigade.

    Who cares?

Don't you guys listen to scanners at work? Training exercises happen every day. I know it what day it is, but you always have to understand that stuff over the scanner isn't necessarily true.

well if they happen everyday....they could have taken today off, or not hold the training exercise outside the Pentagon. Incredibly stupid.

Job 1 for a journo is to check it out. Job 2 is to confirm something. Job 3 is to report it. That certain news orgs failed at jobs one and two shouldn't be on the coast guard. This isn't a story if the media does its job.

It'd be interesting to know which news outlet was the one that ignited the hysteria over this.

Every mention I heard/read cited CNN as their source.
