Twenty free articles a month, and then you pay:

    I'm holding out for 20 bias-free articles a month.

You pay extra for that. Check the little box on your order form.

Comment-land and Blog-land are going to flip the fuck out, that's for sure.

Yeah, the everything-for-nothing crowd will have fodder.

First reaction: $15 a month seems a bit steep.

    ...I just hope this works.

If the NYT succeeds with this strategy, maybe it will filter down to smaller papers until we're all in the black again.

The Kindle subscription is about $20. The ipad version of the Times is very nice. Wish I had an ipad.

The daily Kindle rate is $1 a day.

It's a great paper and the web site frequently updates its coverage.

Interesting twist: NYT staffers are saying that links clicked via Twitter will be free.

Papers are already in the black. Just not black enough. Still too many options for free news in most markets.

As for the cost, $35 per month is way too steep for website access, smartphone app and iPad app. Good luck signing up suckers for that plan.

Seems like the same marketing plan that crack dealers have used. Get them hooked for free then start charging.

Sucks that they don't offer for kindle subscription.
