Given Richard Posner's defenestration of the attorneys representing both states, this should not be a surprise. Full audio at this link. Note how when the Indiana attorney speaks, Posner takes all of 30 seconds to butt in.

I took a seminar/workshop with him and some other judges and law professors once, including Easterbrook from the 7th Circuit, too. (I actually guess I surveyed it - I wrote a weekly blog entry about it, for meager pay.)

Every week, some guest - usually an academic, but once Adam Liptak, which was cool - would come in and present their research paper about how judges decide cases or something along those lines. Posner would tear them to shreds. He was incredibly confrontational - a lot like in that audio - but I think it came from a good place in that he has extremely high standards for accepting someone's argument. Scary guy, though. Smartest person in any room he ever enters, or close to it.
