    I'm selling the thing.

And if somehow I was to be in the stands that day at Wrigley....well, I'm not a Cubs fan. Fuck 'em.

It's probably a million-dollar ball, so I'd sell it for cash only, and on the condition that the bill of sale read only $100 so that I didn't have to pay all the tax on a million bucks.

I'm throwing it back. I wouldn't want to deal with all the bullshit that would come with keeping it. Plus, by throwing it back I'm demonstrating how little I think of Bonds breaking the record.

Well, gee, why not just bypass the bill of sale entirely?

Well, a deal like that would be tracked, so you have to make it somewhat official.

All of you who say you'd throw it back are fools.
    You'd have to keep it.
Despite your personal feelings, the ball's gotta be worth at least a million.
A million damn dollars is a lot of money.
You could put your kid through college, buy a new house in San Francisco and Giants' season tickets behind home plate, where you could boo Bonds to your heart's content.

    You are correct J_D.

And markvid, Ford Frick was the commissioner who wanted to put an asterisk next to Maris' record.
Ruth's name remains in the record bool for home runs in a 154-game season.

Well, you could buy a nice shack for that much anyway....

You don't have my option. Throw the dam ball at his head and hope he has a splitting headaches and needs stitches after he wakes up from his concussion.

Edit: Then pick it back up blood and all and sign it with cheater and sell it to the highest bidder.

    Probably a small two-bedroom with a one-car garage...

I'd give it to the Hall of Fame. No money, no nothing.

    Preserve it for posterity.
