Yes, he just won't play during the day on Saturday.

All the more reason the sumbitch should play. Honestly, I understand day game after night game. Dude is over 40. But there's no arguing that the Giants are better without him than they are with him. It's not fair to the Cubs, for chrissake! On second though, screw the Cubs.

Chickenshit. Selig should make it a point to NOT be there. Stay home, walk the dog, wash your hair.

So ESPN cuts from ESPYs mid-joke -- Kobe walks halfway down the red carpet and asks ... -- to Bonds' first AB against Suppan. Weak 12-bouncer up the middle. Brewers 2B can't get the force and throws, off-balance fading toward left field, a rainbow to Fielder, and STILL got the jogging Bonds by 2 steps. Shit, even Fielder — Cecil Fielder — would've beaten that one out. Shit, even that 1200-pound Mexican man on the Anything Goes board would've beaten that out. Piss poor, Barry.

    2nd AB:

1st pitch: fastball down Broadway, swings for the fences, and misses.
2nd pitch: fastball toward Jupiter, 1-1.
3rd pitch: fastball at the knees, later than yesterday, foul tip.
4th pitch: fastball down the pipe, fouled away.
5th pitch: 58-foot breaking ball in the dirt, catcher nice job to block it with a man on 3B.
6th pitch: high inside fastball, should've been ball 3, instead fouled toward the pressers.
7th pitch: change-up just missed at the high ankles, full count.
8th pitch: high and outside, walk.

    Why should he stay home?

    3rd AB

    1st pitch: outside fastball, 1-0
2nd pitch: curveball, gets out in front, pops up to the infield.

No, staying home is exactly what would be chickenshit. Then he's hiding. Either he should be there and see baseball history or he should be a man about it and say he is not going because he believes Bonds used illegal means to get the record. Say he can't prove it and that is the only reason Bonds hasn't been suspended, but he sure as hell isn't going to honor it.

Ok, that second option wouldn't be very smart. But I'd cheer for the man if he did it.

    4th AB:

    1st pitch: high fastball, 1-0.
2nd pitch: low fastball, nibbles just outside, 2-0
3rd pitch: changeup, rips it down the right-field line, just foul.
4th pitch: outside corner, too outside, 3-1.
5th pitch: change-up floats down the middle, 3-2.
6th pitch: fastball belly-high, gets around on it, but fists it to the CF warning track.

That was a pretty good drive, he just sent it to the wrong part of the park.
