Now's as good a time as ever to blow my cover (if I even had one to begin with), but just got word that the Hanover Evening Sun and the York Daily Record are doing some reshuffling. Specifically, the Evening Sun is eliminating 10 of its 26 newsroom positions.

One in sports (me) affected by the change.

I interviewed for Jay's gig last March. Only a first interview and I guess I'm glad I didn't decide for an in-person interview because I would be up a creek with a wife and three kids.

Oh, I guess in the face of layoffs at the YDR, they are hiring cheaper labor.

Interesting that Randy Parker is doing the interviewing now at York. There was a news editor doing that when I interviewed at the York Daily Record over two years ago.

I know, I know, but if you're going to have layoffs then place an ad here, why not just offer the job to the person you just laid off at a lesser salary. They won't necessarily take it, but at least they wouldn't be out on the street, either.

I would say something, but your side-saddle kind of nails it.
