Feel free to steal that for your use. :D

Sonner, didn't say you were advocating it. I was just replying. Sorry if it seemed attackish.

Yeah, that makes sense. It's kind of like green fees or greens fee or green fee. It's a dumb thing to spend a lot of time worrying about. Just come up with a style and go with it.

I understand what you're saying, 'gola, but it's that outlook which drives copy editors absolutely up the wall.

There is a right way and a wrong way for everything.

Ten yards for incorrect use of "which."

Well, that's why we are discussing it here, I guess.

Like I said, I just became a desker full-time, so I have to start paying better attention to this stuff.

I just probably won't get too worked up over it.

    Does that make sense?

    On the original question ...

You wouldn't hyphenate "10 previous games," so don't hyphenate "10 consecutive games."

Uh-huh. That's my millstone: "that" vs. "which."

Mine: when you have two people in possession, including the term "my". I'm spending John and my's money? John's and my money? John and my money?

Oh, and who/whom. Kills me every freaking time.

When I mentioned a hard and fast rule, I meant for my place. Y'all can do whatever you want ... but stay consistent.
The straight/consecutive things came up awhile back when somebody wrote that a pitcher threw three straight curveball. No wonder the batter hit it 450 feet if they were straight curveballs.
