Thank you, TBF and jg, for rising above the morons who think this thread should be the sources of jokes.

I'm as good with the joke as the next.
    This one turned my stomach.
I especially keep thinking of the eight journalists -- and their families -- that were killed by American fire.

Yeah, here it is. It was farther down.

    By embedded status:
    • Embedded: 7
    • Non-Embedded or “unilateral”: 117

That's about what I would've guessed. I'd be willing to guess most of those were caused by IEDs on convoys, rather than hostile fire with a dismounted (foot-soldier) unit.

    Thanks for the link.

    Responsibility:
    • Insurgent action: 95 (Includes crossfire, suicide bombings, and murders.)
    • U.S. fire: 16 (CPJ has not found evidence to conclude that U.S. troops targeted journalists in these cases. While the cases are classified as crossfire, CPJ continues to investigate.)
    • Iraqi armed forces, during U.S. invasion: 3 (All are crossfire or acts of war.)
    • Iraqi armed forces, post-U.S. invasion: 1 (Crossfire)
    • Source unconfirmed: 9

    Where did you find 8?

Somehow, I'm on an email list for rsf.org. (http://www.rsf.org/special_iraq_en.php3).
I will defer. I have a feeling there was a time element to the entry I saw.
    But, my original sentiment stands.

I had dinner shortly after the Iraq War started with a cousin of mine who was in the Navy. I found it curious at that point that more journalists had died in the war than U.S. servicemen.

Speaking of Reporters Without Borders (http://www.rsf.org), another advocacy group for those in our line, here's a semi-cool T-shirt for the more radical among us. Part of the proceeds go to help rsf.
