MLBPA: Teams conspired against Bonds

    Yeah, everyone wants to sign a washed-up, 40-something former slugger who is a bad guy in the clubhouse.

    The MLBPA and Barry Bonds' agent alleges collusion by the owners to blackball Bonds.

    I thought Bonds opted out of the MLBPA so that he could control his own licensing as he raced to beat Aaron's record?

    Am I wrong about that? Wouldn't that mean that Bonds was not subject to the collective bargaining agreements?

    Bonds will have a hard time proving his case. MLB can just point to his legal troubles and his poor attitude in the clubhouse with his teammates as reasons why teams decided to avoid signing him.

    So if the Royals came up with an offer of the league minimum to DH for them, he'd have been all over it? Sure.
