I tried to give it a chance and actually read the thing, but it's the same ol' Sports Guy schtick.

 

I thought the exact same thing when I saw it on ESPN.com's front page.

Just awful. Man after those great pieces on Lyman Bostock and Fred Lewis..... Sad really. Someone put Simmons out of his misery (and I'm a Bosox fan!)

 

Halfway through I was wondering how this could possibly be any longer. So I quit.

 

Long, boring and self-important.

I wonder what the ombudsman will have to say about this. Probably something like the "declining standards" at OTL.

Oh, wouldn't this have been better running yesterday? You know, the day he played his first playoff game for the Dodgers.

 

I love his multiple "we" references when talking about the Red Sox.

I am passionate about multiple teams, been a fan all my life ... but I will never, ever, say "We."

 

Simmons' biggest flaw is that he equates being popular with being good.
