6-year-old saves drowning 5-year-old: 'That's what friends do'

A bizarre passage from the story:

An adult spotted a shadow in the pool, but couldn't get to it.

That's troubling on many different levels.

Keep in mind, this was in Georgia.

 

Maybe the adult was drunk. Or maybe the adult simply didn't know how to swim.

 

It was a pool, right?

How deep was the deep end?

 

Some people go to pools simply to tan and never do swim. Maybe the adult didn't know how to swim.

Just throwing that out there.

 

Just thought I would post this.



Every time I read about a drowning, I think about this.

 

It's your duty as an adult to know how to swim.

If you do not, go to the Y and sign up for lessons.

Only 3/4th of our planet is covered by the stuff.

 

Most deep ends are 6 feet.

Any adult can toe-hop themselves to the side in that circumstance.

Writer should have written whether that person dove into the pool or not.

A lot of pools have deep ends that are 10 feet or so. Just sayin.'

 

Just reading the thread title restored just a little bit of hope for people.

 

Inexcusable that phrase was used in the story without some detail.

Period.
