Dixie, remember that many of those commenting have never stepped foot in the state and only know what they've seen negatively on TV or heard from family and friends.
    Let it be.

    Well, that and:

    (1) The highest high school drop-out rate in America.
    (2) More than half of the GOP (i.e. white) voters think that the president of the United States is a Muslim (NTTAWWT), and another 36 percent are "not sure."

I heard the Maher piece... Funny/scary stuff...

But hey, if Mississippi votes for Gingrich today, it will be a hell of a lot smarter than all these states that went for Santorum.

I've gotta channel my inner Zag/OT/AngryWhiteMale here and point out that I saw this video and I thought it was pretty lazy, and I don't think Maher should have aired it.

I love the South. Absolutely love it. But there's a reason why the unofficial motto for several states is "Thank God for Mississippi."

As I suspected initially, there are some questions about the methodology of this robopoll – from that noted right wing apologist, um, NBC's Chuck Todd:

"I think this question was designed to get a higher percentage in the answer than maybe what's actually true," Todd said on Tuesday's Today Show.

"...the way the question was asked, I think it just was designed to get a higher number. Because there are some Republicans who...may not believe he's a Muslim, but like saying it because it's a way to attack him. It's sort of a way to needle him....it's certainly created a buzz among liberals who are trying to create a stereotype among base conservative voters."

Which was the point, of course.

I'd like to see what sort of batshit crazy things 52 percent of California Democratic voters would say are true, if you make it about certain Republican political figures.

I don't see anything concrete in that column that is anything more than, "They cherry-picked their interviewees."

Again: It's the least educated state in the union. That might not have been a representative cross-section of the state as a whole. But it certainly was representative of a subgroup that is more prevalent there than in 49 other states.

    Or the inner-city.

Though no one can do that.

I'm not defending the answers, but why was the question asked?

I've taken two of these surveys in the last month, and I wasn't asked anything about Obama's religion. I wonder if they only do that down south...

Oh. So if you don't actually believe that Obama's a Muslim, but you use it as a line of attack, that's OK. Because of course, being a Muslim is something that it's OK to attack someone for. It's just the same as calling him a liberal, or a socialist.

So it's not that they're STUPID. It's that they're BIGOTED.

    You're right. That is different.
