So out-of-state candidates may not apply?

Darn, that's one of two reasons I can't apply for the position.

Big shoes to fill in this one too. Matt Maiocco left for Comcast Sports Net after 10 years on the beat. Should we be surprised this one hasn't been posted until after training camp starts?

They want a "seasoned NFL writer" who will also be doing a myriad of online functions, yet in the requirements for "Experience" it reads like a standard opening for borderline-entry level preps position:

At least two years experience with a daily newspaper or similar publication
    Multimedia skills a plus.

We have all this multimedia stuff we expect you to do, so it would be a "plus" if you knew how to do it.

This is a common requirement. You are just expected (required) to obtain a California license within a certain number of days of accepting the position.

  7. Any guesses on what it pays? ... I'd think it'd have to be, at least, in the $60s because of the housing market and the nature of the job. But, well, this newspapers.

Several talented writers have gone through this place on their way to bigger things.

Maiocco is a legend. The Man on the 49ers. You'll still have to compete with him. Good luck.

    Re: salary. I'm guessing $60k.

Yes, you're hired. Report to the office on Monday.

  12. What's the circ? Close to 100K? I'd like to think the premier beat writer job at a Northern California paper is making at least $75, no?
