Scoop Slam Dunks this like NO OTHER!

I thought we had gotten to a place in sports where color and race were no longer the sole reason we rooted. I know the Bonds saga is different, but I thought we as blacks had achieved enough in sports to not just root for someone based on the color of his or her skin. I thought we'd eclipsed the private side of our "reverse" racism.

Because sports often -- as much as many of us would like to think differently -- is not a "bring everyone together, can't we all just get along" activity. The goal is not always to share. We get behind players (and teams) who best represent us regardless of outcome and outlook. That's the way millions of us roll. But it's because of their skin -- not in spite of the other player's skin -- that we do this. (I'm sure plenty of white fans root for Phil against Tiger or rejoice when Steve Nash wins back-to-back MVPs for the same reasons.)

So when Elliotte said to kill him now, maybe he was having a premonition?

Since we're on the topic of race, what are your thoughts on this, Sportsbruh?

Surprised I'm the first to say it, but this will not end well.

I'll give Sportsbruh this: he won't need to be told to be specific in thread titles.

As for Scoop...um, Venus and Serena have been playing tennis for a while. Likely on several previous July Fourths, too.
