30 Rock is such a good show

Discussion in 'Anything goes' started by poindexter, Oct 26, 2007.

  1. I can NOT stand Alec Baldwin as a person, but good Lord that man can act!
    He is hilarious.
30 Rock is easily my favorite non-reality TV show.

Bringing in Tim Conway (Tim Conway!) and pairing him with the goobery Kenneth was just genius. I wish Tim could still be wandering the halls next week.

Seems like the writers are stringing the plot around funny gags instead of coming up with great punchlines for funny setups: the drinking scene with the Teamsters, the 12th floor zombie zone, the final bit of Donaghey joining the Bush Administration.
Don't know why, but the hotter Tina Fey gets and the more plots they center on her, the less funny this show is. She's got to be the straight person. She's Harvey Korman. Not Tim Conway.

Yeah, I thought tonight's episode was a bit of a downer. About the only solid lines are the one in my sig and Liz saying "he got Lemoned".

Re: tonight's ep. I cannot remember the last time I laughed at something harder than some of the weather stuff tonight. First, when Floyd said a tornado took out a whole city block in my beloved Cleveland, entailing "a couple of bowling alleys, a liquor store and a liquor store museum" then when you hear a TV report of tornados hitting downtown Detroit "putting out several fires."
    Damn, I howled.

Jack's line that sticking out his tounge for a snowflake/Chelsea line was a very funny aside. The episode again felt just a little disjointed, especially the Teamster plot (how to you waste the great Brian Dennehey?). Even the Floyd thing felt like there were a couple of things missing. But still, at worst, the second funniest show on network TV.

The first being General Hospital, of course. :)

Also because of folks on here, tuned in to the last show ... found it amusing, but just didn't seem like a must-see to me ... I'm thinking I would have been more into, though, if I got in from the start. Seems like one you need to have been watching to fully enjoy it.

Oh, Come on, guys ... "You used Ghostbusters for evil!"

    That's funny.

I'm with beardpuller. Anyone who can coyly drop a Peter Venkman reference in prime time gets my vote. Funniest show on TV. And that's before they pulled off an Amadeus spoof involving a porn video game.

Jennifer Aniston will make a return visit to NBC
    By FRAZIER MOORE
    AP Television Writer

NEW YORK (AP) _ Jennifer Aniston will return home to NBC, the TV network where she became a breakout star on the hit sitcom "Friends."

She's currently filming a guest appearance on the network's "30 Rock," Aniston publicist Stephen Huvane confirmed Friday.

There were no immediate details on the role Aniston will play — as herself or a fictitious character — or the episode's planned air date.

The New York-based series, which begins its third season in October, stars Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin in a behind-the-scenes, sometimes self-directed spoof of a television network and the huge corporation that owns it. The show has won a modest but devoted following, and critical raves. Awards include Golden Globes, a Peabody and last year's Emmy for outstanding comedy series.

With its show-biz slant, it has become a haven for guest appearances by big names from entertainment — even politics, including Al Gore.

Another of the six-member "Friends" troupe, David Schwimmer, had a "30 Rock" guest shot last season.

Since "Friends" concluded its highly successful 10-year run in 2004, Aniston has concentrated on films, including "Friends with Money," ''The Break-Up."
