How different would the series be if that had been the case?

Then again, as much as I enjoy it, a good 15 hours out of every 24 can be summed up like this:

Jack Bauer to some bad guy: "TELL ME WHERE THE BOMB IS!!!"

Seriously? Wow, I never knew that. I'd be pissed too.

Though it's hard to imagine anyone else other than Sutherland playing Jack. He's got that hard-living vibe that's perfect for fucked-up Bauer.

OK, it bothers me a little bit. I'm sure there will be an explanation, but it probably won't be plausible. And I don't really care. A lot of the stuff is not plausible, but I still enjoy the show. Maybe I'll change my mind once they explain it, but for now I'm not going to worry about it.
Has it been mentioned on here that Janeane Garofalo is going to be one of the new computer techs?

  4. I have a big problem with it (although I will still watch). Especially because now he is supposedly a bad guy. Seems odd that they'd drag up a clearly dead character to turn him against Jack. Maybe they make it work, but I doubt it.

OK, now you guys are making me have a problem with it! I haven't really paid much attention to the previews, so I don't have the context, so I'll still wait and see how it plays out.

I'm willing to tune in, but I agree with the sentiment here. The explanation better me plausible at the least because right now it seems to me that some writer was surfing the internet, closed his browser after watching some porn, decided to do a search for "24" and came across people saying that Tony should live because "there was no silent clock" and said "Well, you know what? I think that could work. After all, why waste take creating a new character? Plus, Carlos really has nothing else going on in his life so why not?"

This has the potential to be the definitive "Jump The Shark" moment for this show, that is unless you count Wayne as president last year.

Still though, it's Jack Bauer. He's going to kill terrorists. Why do you need a deeper meaning to a show than that?

Met Bernard at the Derby during the first season.

Told him I was a big fan of the show and he said, in a very drunken stupor, that he was supposed to be Jack Bauer.

I thought it was just the alcohol talking at the time, but wow. The show would be a helluva lot different if those two switched roles.

Not really. The show would have focused on Tony and Jack would have been the guy with the mug who always looks sad.

Exactly. I'm not saying I don't care about the plot, but because I have loved this show from Day 1, I'm willing to overlook some of the things that piss some other people off.

That's one thing I've never been able to comprehend.

One of my friends got hooked on the show in the first season, and then said he got tired of all the bullshit.

I've come thisclose to giving up on it, but keep coming back.

I will admit that I like some of the more subtle moments...like Jack crying in the car, for instance.

I just hope that this season has no mention of Kim, no sighting of Wayne and very, very little of Audrey.

Tell me again: Why does everyone hate Kim? Or Audrey, for that matter?
