    Got it. Thanks.

From the article, I thought maybe he had just come into contact with law enforcement and had provided a false ID.

If this guy ever wants to spill his guts, it would make a fantastic long-form story, as well.

I just want to know how he pulled this off, how he lived in that world on an everyday basis, what it was like going to class, social situations, etc.

There had to be so many close calls where he almost gave away his actual age. He lived with his coach. There are telltale signs of a guy being older than 15 from just interacting with him on a daily basis. I'm stunned the coach and his family didn't notice them.

Great work and great story that could someday turn into something even better if Montimere is willing to talk.

Agreed. I think it could be a great book.

5A is the biggest classification in Texas. Last I checked a few years ago, Permian had more than 4,000 students.

I'd love to see a HT-WT & photo of this guy. I mean, no one had a clue he wasn't a 15/16 year old?

If this was Permian football, the list of possible conspirators would be really, really, really long, whether the coach was aware of the situation or not.

But since this was basketball, it's almost too easy to believe everybody in Odessa got duped in this deal.

It was a well-done investigatory piece by the American, but I read this story in USA Today and even texted a fellow poster here about it from my hotel room in Vegas last Thursday or Friday.
    Here's their link:

Odessa broke that story before the USA Today.

You read the story that USAT picked up from the O-A. That story is from May 5 and it attributes information to the original Odessa story from April 30 here:

    http://varsity.oaoa.com/articles/year-6270-joseph-permian.html

Odessa has been kicking ass on this story for two weeks, long before anyone else picked it up.

I wonder about that too. And I wonder for every one caught if there's one who is never discovered.

And kudos to Odessa for this. Great job by them.
