16 but, yeah, that's a hell of a story and a good, national-level get for those guys. They worked hard on that story, did it the right way and didn't just throw shit on the wall when they heard stuff. Massive props to them.

  2. I thought he initally claimed to be 15?
But yeah, either way hell of a story. They collaborated with at least one other paper in Florida to pull this together.

Wonder if this will spark a spate of statutory rape cases.

  6. Right, so he was posing as a 15, now 16-year-old.
When he first enrolled it was as a 15-year-old.

OK, we're splitting hairs. He SAID he was 15 when he enrolled (he was 21). He was ARRESTED as a 22-year-old posing as a 16-year-old.
He was arrested 17 months after he showed up.

Anyway, again, very nice work by the Odessa crew. It ought to win a barrel full of awards.

How far is this school from Ft. Lauderdale where he previously played? And is 5A for big schools or small schools?

If he led his team to the 5A state finals in 2007, you'd think someone -- a recruiter maybe -- would recognize him.

Read some of the earlier stories - I'm pretty sure it was an AAU coach who first made the connection.

How often do you think kids (men) pull this off? Is the end game a scholarship -- as in first time around he only got JC and didn't stick it out, so he is trying to turn back the clock and see if he can get DI next time around?

Moddy is right, AAU coaches from Florida recognized him at a tournament to start this whole thing.
