And I suspect the “chill out, brothers” includes the Southland Conference who, after all, suspended him because he kind of egregiously violated the book. And by “book” I do mean the “rule book.”

This umpire did not make a mistake. Jim Joyce made a mistake when he botched the safe/out call that cost Armando Galarraga a perfect game. Reggie Drummer obviously and willfully made the wrong call — a game-ending call at that — out of some misguided attempt to teach a young man a lesson.
There is a huge difference. One can be forgiven. The other goes against everything an umpire is supposed to stand for.

Idle threat. Save your anger for something that really matters.

Does “the book” say that the penalty for showing up the ump is forfeiting the game? Because that is what he did making up his mind to call strike three on any pitch that didn’t hit the bat or batter. If he was that upset about it, he should have ejected the batter on strike two.

Wow New Concord and Muskingum are about as rural Ohio as you can get.

San Diego beat Pacific 16-9 on Saturday after scoring 10 runs in the bottom of the eighth inning. Thirteen batters came to the plate and none of them hit a ball out of the infield. If you enjoy small ball, this was a thing of beauty.

They have a standardized mercy rule now in the SEC. And Mississippi State still lost 26-3 in its series opener against Vanderbilt.
That's 15 straight SEC losses for the Bulldogs, if you're keeping count, which breaks the school record set in 2010. They've been outscored 55-9 in their last three SEC games. This also wasn't even the worst loss in recent memory. They lost 27-2 against Tennessee in the last series of the 2022 season.

Less than two years after winning a national championship and seemingly being set for life in Starkville, there is a raging bonfire under the chair in Chris Lemonis' office. It might be bigger, but the bullpen took a lot of the fuel to create its own five-alarm dumpster fire.
