Mills was a finalist last year, so he's not as far away as you think.

Stallworth is the one he’s really famous for, but Blount, White, Holmes are his, too. Anyone could have found Greene. He wasn’t a secret.

They named his college team after him!

    4. Seeing Larry Centers' name makes me nostalgic for the days when a fullback could catch 100 passes in a season.

He had eight seasons with more than 65 receptions -- five of them with more than 75 and four with 80 or more.

And wound up with more receptions (827) than carries (615).

Peyton Manning will certainly go in, and I hope Charles Woodson does as well. It's fascinating how their careers paralleled each other, from the 1997 Heisman Trophy to their NFL longevity and success, and then retiring in the same year. It'd be fitting for them to go into the Hall of Fame in the same year, and almost wouldn't seem right if they didn't.

Manning and Woodson are locks for this class.

The two biggest questions are Allen and Megatron. I don't think they put the latter in on the first ballot. The former is going to have some debate. He doesn't have rings and that might hold him back this year.

My super early thought is they go Manning, Woodson, Faneca, Lynch and Seymour

I think Megatron is an HOFer - but I also think him retiring with some tread on the tire will keep him from getting in on the first ballot.

The way they have treated wide receivers in the past decade is a disgrace. Johnson has no shot on the first ballot just based on precedent alone.

Since Rice in 2010 it has been:

    Moss first ballot
    Owens 3rd ballot
    Harrison 3rd ballot
    Brown 6th ballot
    Carter 6th ballot
    Reed 8th ballot

Megatron was better than all of them except Moss and MAYBE Owens.

If so, can you spliff the difference on your feelings for him?
