I do not believe the voters get it, so I suspend any optimism the right people will get in.
Also, not for nothing, but Simeon Rice was a huge jackass as a player, so that will not help his case at all.

Feel like Mecklenburg, Lloyd, Wilbur Marshall and Cornelius Bennett deserve more consideration than Carl Banks.

There are several linebackers who are ahead of him. I really think this is just giving him one final shot while he is eligible as a modern candidate.

Once again the memory of my own eyes prejudices me. I know Atwater was a fine player, but I most remember him getting torched at Super Bowl XXIV. Not fair, but it's burned into my brain. I bet the committee, many of whose members are my former peers of that era, has some people like that on it.

I want Boselli to make it but he just didn't do it for long enough.
And I know he was injured but that's some element of greatness, making it back and staying on the field.

I'm surprised he has made it as far as he has already in reaching the top 10. The guy had six full seasons as a starter and and two of those he only played 12 games. If he had been an all-pro every season, I'd understand it a little bit but he was picked just three times.

I know people will point to Willis as a comp but Willis played another season and a half and has five first-team all-pros and a second team in seven full seasons. That, to me, is dominance if you are going to pick a career shortened by injury

If I were voting: Polamalu, Faneca, Hutchinson, Barber and Willis
How I think it will go: Polamalu, Faneca, Hutchinson, James and Willis. I think James is going to sneak in because others will cancel each other out along the way and he is at the front of the running back list.

Barber? That’s interesting. Had the misfortune of playing in an era with Deion, Woodson, Aeneas and Ty Law, so maybe overlooked some. Still, he never struck me as Canton worthy.

Was three-time first-team all-pro and two more second-team all-pro and made plays -- 47 INTs, 12 fumble recoveries, 28 sacks, ton of PBUs. He's in that level with Aeneas and Law.

28 sacks? Jesus, that has to be a record for corners, no?
