USC had its chance to build something special until those 3 transferred.

They were freshmen on the USC team that won at Arkansas, which was the first time in a long time a non-con had won there.

Jeffty Connelly, too. He went from USC to Santa Clara. A couple of years later the five-man WCC All-Tournament team was Gathers, Kimble, Lewis, Gaines and Connelly -- 4 Trojans and a Bruin. Raveling insisted he had to rescind their scholarships or the Trojans would have gotten in trouble with the NCAA. Stan Morrison was the head coach who brought them in. David Spencer, the top assistant, came off as shady.

Michigan State, Michigan, Indiana, Ohio State, Purdue... that’s a pretty subjective number. How did they do the prior 21?

    This took a helluva turn.

NCAA Tournament ref Bert Smith's collapse during game saved his life

    Here's the prior 40:

    Michigan (1989), Indiana (1987), Indiana (1981), Michigan State (1979), Indiana (1976) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Ohio State (1960).

Tom Izzo would like a word with you and Songbird.

And the ACC went 23 years with only one champion, but that’s finding the perfect tome frame. The Big Ten did have seven runners up in the last 21 years, though.

    Runner-up is the first loser.

A couple of takeaways from this update:

    1. Contact tracing is a joke, at least as (not) practiced in Alabama and Indiana.
    2. Taking “most” of the covid precautions is like being a little bit pregnant. Either you are or aren’t.

Check out this article from Montgomery Advertiser: Alabama fan's COVID death after returning from NCAA Tournament raises many questions https://www.indystar.com/story/news/investigations/2021/04/09/death-of-alabama-fan-who-attended-ncaa-tournament-raises-questions/7113474002/

    Montgomery Advertiser link doesn't work.
Contact tracing was always going to be iffy and variable between states and counties, etc. It's always hard to ask people to rat out their friends for anything, and that's what this often amounts to. I say all of this not having read the Montgomery story.
